During a recent outreach, a woman slowly approaches the make-shift water station. As I hand her a cold drink it occurs to me that we've met before. Last year #Yvette lost her husband - grief, then depression and when she couldn't make ends meet, the street. A single night homeless is one too many and Yvette has been out here far too long. I'm encouraged to learn social services have provided much needed medications, a safe place to sleep and are working towards securing permanent housing. In spite of dire circumstances this woman finds a smile. A friend I'm with mentions they likely share the same size and asks if she can bring her anything? Yvette replies, "Yes, a dress for church." I afford a mere bottle of water, Yvette unknowingly grants an ocean in return.
